Country and Heritage

Romiley District Centre lies in the North East of the Borough on the edge of the Peak District, at a distance of approximately 4 miles from Stockport town centre. Romiley has a long history, being mentioned in the Domesday Book as Rumelie. This name is derived from the Anglo Saxon word meaning spacious woodland clearing.
