Romiley
District Centre lies in the North East of the Borough on the edge
of the Peak District, at a distance of approximately 4 miles from
Stockport town centre. Romiley has a long history, being mentioned
in the Domesday Book as Rumelie. This name is derived from the Anglo
Saxon word meaning spacious woodland clearing. It has certainly
changed since then!
This website is a work in progress, and as well as being used by
the people of Romiley, we're hoping that the people of Romiley will
help to develop it! If you have any information, anecdotes, old
photographs or other information about Romiley and it's surrounding
area that people my find useful, please get in touch with us via
the contacts page.
